Unlocking Your Potential by Facing Your Fears
One of the worst enemies many people face in life is fear. So many never reach their fullest potential and never get to live the life they dream of and desire. Instead, they sit back and watch others live the lives they want while spiraling into frustration over their own situation. They often wonder, "What's the difference? What are they doing differently to have such a life of luxury and amenities? What obstacles did they overcome to get there?" The answer is quite simple: they overcame fear.
You need to know that the life you desperately desire awaits you on the other side of fear. Possibilities and life's joys are found beyond fear. You must grapple with this knowledge and strive to own and overcome your fears.
Own Your Fears
2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”. The fears you face in life come from outside sources. It's not something the Most High Yahuah (God) gives to you. If you want to live beyond your fears, you must first acknowledge and own them. You won't reach the promised land of your destiny if you don't own your fears. The first step to living in victory is taking responsibility and ownership. This means not blaming anyone else. You must look your fears in the face and own them.
Understand, that Yahusha (Jesus) said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”. Here, Yahusha explains why you need to own your fears. The enemy plays on your fears and uses them to keep you motionless. The devil knows that fear paralyzes people, making them scared to step out of their comfort zones and do anything worthwhile in life. Some fear losing a job, not succeeding, starting a business, opening a restaurant, going back to school, and more. Whatever the case may be, too many people are immobile in life due to fear.
Remember, Yahusha paved the way for you to have a life of abundance, but the devil prevents people from experiencing this abundant life by making them focus on their fears. Own your fears now! Stop letting Satan use them against you. But the moment you decide to face your fears, you take away their power. You'll start to see that the obstacles you once thought were insurmountable are actually stepping stones to your growth and success.
Think about the life you want, the dreams you have, and the goals you’ve set. All of this is within your reach, but you have to own your fears to get there. Make the decision today to own your fears and move forward. The journey might not be easy, but it will be worth it.
Overcome Your Fears
Once you own your fears, whatever they may be, you can overcome them. King Solomon give insight in helping to overcome fears by saying, “For fear is nothing else but a betraying of the succours which reason offereth”. Some of you need to get out of your own way by readjusting your mindset. You’re holding yourself back by giving too much energy to your fears instead of embracing and working through them. To overcome your fears, you need two key elements: mind over fear and moving by faith.
I. Mind over Fear
Solomon further states, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee”. The first step in your journey to overcoming your fears starts in your mind. You have to see yourself where you desire to be in life. Your mind has to be so fixated on that destination that no fear or doubt can make you think otherwise. Understand, if you can see it in your mind, then it can manifest and materialize. The life you desire is not a far-fetched reality; it’s not just a figment of your imagination but a reality you can lay hold of.
Hence, feed your mind with affirmations, information, prayer, music, and messages that support that reality. Surround yourself with positivity and keep your focus on where you want to go. The journey begins in your thoughts, so make sure they’re aligned with your goals. Visualize your success daily, and let that vision drive your actions.
In addition, surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you. Engage in conversations that encourage growth and challenge you to push beyond your comfort zone. Read books, listen to podcasts, and watch videos that motivate and educate you on how to achieve your dreams.
Remember, the life you want is within reach, but it requires a mindset shift and a commitment to overcoming fear. Embrace your fears, work through them, and let your mind be the powerhouse that propels you toward your goals. Stay focused, stay determined, and watch as your dreams turn into reality.
II. Move by Faith
The second step in overcoming fear is to move by faith. One story that really highlights this is Peter's experience in Matthew 14:22-33. Peter and the other disciples were in a ship, heading to the other side. While they were on their way, the waves started tossing them around because the winds were strong and contrary. In the middle of this storm, Yahusha came to them during the fourth watch of the night, walking on the sea. The disciples saw Him and were troubled, but Yahusha reassured them that it was Him and that they didn't need to be afraid.
Peter, wanting to be sure, said to Yahusha, "If it's really you, let me come down and walk on the water with you." Yahusha told him to come. So, Peter stepped out of the boat and did what no one else has done since—he walked on water. The other disciples stayed in the boat, letting fear immobilize them and prevent them from experiencing the miracle. They were complacent and comfortable in the boat, scared to make that move. They probably even tried to convince Peter not to get out of the boat, maybe even telling him he was crazy and wouldn't succeed. But to their surprise, Peter did what they were scared to do because he moved by faith. He stepped out and made history because he chose to move by faith.
It doesn’t matter how impossible it seems. Let people call you crazy and say all sorts of things about you—overcome your fears by moving with faith. You can do it; just move by faith. Realize, it’s better to move by faith and try than never to try at all. The greatest failure you will ever experience in life is not something not working out the way you thought, but never having tried. When you move by faith and it doesn’t turn out the way you desire, it’s not failure; it’s just a setback and a learning experience for the next process and progress. True failure is never trying.
In Peter’s incident, the other 11 disciples were failures because they didn’t try to get out of the boat. They stood there and watched Peter make history. If they had moved in faith, they too would have been part of the company of Yahusha who walked on water.
The time has come for you to get out of your boat of fears and start walking on water, so to speak. It’s time to stop being afraid. The life you desire to live is on the other side of fear; you just need to get out and move by faith. You’ll be surprised how blessed you’ll be if you choose to move by faith.
When you take that leap, you’ll likely face challenges and obstacles, but don’t let that deter you. Every step of faith you take, even if it’s met with setbacks, is building your strength and resilience. Think of the growth you’ll experience and the lessons you’ll learn along the way. Each step forward, even if it’s wobbly, brings you closer to your goals and dreams.
So, make the decision today to step out of your comfort zone. Embrace the unknown, and let faith guide you through. Don’t wait for the perfect moment or for all doubts to disappear. Move with the belief that you are capable of achieving great things and that each step you take in faith will lead you to the life you’ve always wanted. Keep pushing forward, and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish when you move by faith.
