Deuteronomy 5:28–30 (KJV 1900) 28 And the Lord heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the Lord said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken. 29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever! 30 Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
Yahuah's People Really Don't Want to Know Him
Psalm 81:11 (KJV 1900): 11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; And Israel would none of me.
It is a heart issue. They haven't truly let Yahuah into their hearts. Their hearts are full of iniquity, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of their own desires, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of evil, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of chaos, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of deceit, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of sexual immorality, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of lies, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of drama, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of wrongdoing, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of love for wrongdoing, leaving no room for Yahuah. Their hearts are full of excuses, leaving no room for Yahuah.
When Yahuah says "O," it speaks to sorrow and agony over a situation. "O" speaks to the pain behind what's about to come next. "O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always."
Yahuah wants it to go well with you and your family. But how can it go well with you when you don't fear Yahuah? How can it go well with you when you don't even seek to keep His commandments? Let's look at three areas of life where things don't go well when you don't have a heart to fear and keep Yahuah's commandments: Peace, Problems, and Prayer.
I. Peace
Isaiah 57:21 (KJV 1900): 21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
Isaiah 26:3–4 (KJV 1900): 3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.
Romans 5:1 (KJV 1900): Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
The wicked find no peace because their hearts are not aligned with Yahuah. True peace comes from trusting in Him and keeping our minds focused on His ways. When we are justified by faith, we find peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
II. Problems
Psalm 119:67 (KJV 1900): 67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: But now have I kept thy word.
When we stray from Yahuah's commandments, afflictions often follow. These troubles serve as reminders to return to His word and ways. By keeping His word, we find guidance and protection from many of life's problems.
III. Prayer
1 Samuel 28:15: 15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
Psalm 66:18 (KJV 1900): 18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
John 9:31 (KJV 1900): 31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Proverbs 28:9 (KJV 1900): 9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer shall be abomination.
When we harbor iniquity in our hearts or turn away from hearing Yahuah's law, our prayers are hindered. Saul experienced this when Yahuah no longer answered him. To have our prayers heard, we must worship God and do His will, keeping our hearts aligned with His commandments.
Conclusion
Yahuah desires a heart that fears Him and keeps His commandments always. This is the path to peace, the solution to our problems, and the key to effective prayer. Let us examine our hearts and clear out anything that hinders our relationship with Yahuah. Only then can we truly experience His blessings and favor in our lives.
